Paper Turn In and Test
Today in Human Geo class we had to turn in our big 200 point paper. I accidentally put the font as size 14 when it was suppose to be size 12. Other than that I think that I did a great job on it. Hopefully I got an A on it. After we turned our papers in we had to take the World Leaders Test. I think that I did pretty good on it. Hopefully I got an A on that also. By the time we finished our test, it was basically the end of class. That is all that we were able to accomplish in Human Geo class today.

Also we did other facts about them. Like what countries were also apart of their empire and other facts like that We spent the whole entire class period doing that. That was all we really did in human Geo class today.

Creation of this new Jewish state was not universally accepted by Arabs, even though Israel was officially admitted to the UN on May 11, 1949. There is still controversy surrounding Israel's very existence in the Middle East.

Test Review
Today in human Geo class we got our tests back. I didn't do to well on it though. I could tell all of the people and which country they lead, but when it came down to the facts about them I guess I just didn't study hard enough. I hope I will do better on the next quiz or test we take. After we got our tests back and we reviewed. After that it was time to go. That is basically all we did in human Geo class today.

Human Geo Class
Today in class our class was kind of small. A lot of people were scared of the bomb threat so they did not show up for school. The people that were there including me were very brave people while the others were at home scared hiding in their cover on their bed. So while they were at home we discussed and made questions that could go on the test. So now we have a little head start on them. So in the long run it was a good idea to go to school today. We discussed a lot of questions that could go on the tests. For example what is the oldest monotheistic religion? The answer to that question would be Judaism. That is basically what we did in Human Geo class and im happy i went so now i know some of the questions that are going to be on the test.

Class Today
Today in class we continued to go over the blog about the 5 key religions. We spent part of the time reviewing Christianity but then we went over Islam and got a speech from Kishan about Hinduism. We learned a lot about Islam. One thing that really surprised me was that they pray 5 times a day everyday. No matter what you are doing at the time you have to stop and pray. To pray the sit down and face the direction of Mecca. Then they put their heads on the floor and say their prayers. If you are in school at the time you would usually just do the prayer as a class. Also their big central person of the religion would be Muhammad. Then after we were done discussing Islam Kishan gave us a speech about Hinduism. He said that the have one god but he is reincarnated into different gods. So in a was they are both monotheistic and polytheistic. It is kinda hard to understand that though. This is what we were able to accomplish in Human geography class.

Power Point and Blog Discussion
Today in Human Geo class we continued looking at the culture power point. I learned that religion can be a big dispute that counties have against themselves. People say if you don't belive in m religion then you are weird or things like that. Then people start to argue which religion is right and then that can lead to bigger things. So it ends up being a big mess and it can split countries if a lot of people are fighting over that one thing. It can also unite people. They think that having the same religious beliefs is a very good thing. After we looked at the power point we discussed the blog we did during class Friday. We talked mostly about Christianity. I learned that their holy book is not the bible but it is the new Testament. We also talked about how Christianity was hated in some places. People would put you in an arena with wild animals and you had to fight for your life. That didn't end up well for those people. It was not a civil way and that is why now it is good to have religious freedom in the U.S. That is what I learned in class today.

Key religions
Christianity
Christianity was founded in 41 AD by Jesus Christ. He lived in Jerusalem, Israel so that is where it was founded. This religion is monotheistic because they only believe that there is one god. The holy book that Christianity uses is called the New Testament located in the Bible. The have nearly 2.2 billion followers which is around 30% of the worlds population. The central figure is Jesus and this religion is mostly practiced in the Americas now.

Islam
The Next religion is Islam or also called Muslims. It was founded by a guy named Muhammad in 632 AD in the country of Saudi Arabia. Islam is a monotheistic because they only believe in one God. There holy book is called The Qur'an.They have around 1.2 billion followers around the world. Their central figure of the religion is Allah which means "God" in Arabic. It is studied mostly Asia and Africa.
Buddhism
Buddhism was founded in 460 B.C. by a prince named Siddhartha Gautama. It was founded in a place called Kapilavastu. This religion is polytheistic because the are a religion that believe in many different Gods. The do have a Holy book called the Tipitaka. They have around 300 - 500 million which is not as much as Christianity or Islam. The central figure of Buddhism is the Buddha. Buddhism is mostly practiced around east Asia, Napel, and Tibet.
Hinduism
Hinduism was founded in northern India but wasn't founded by one single person. It was founded by an institution called Saptarishis in 1500 B.C. Hinduism has many gods so that would make them polytheistic. Hinduisms holy book is called the Veda. Hinduism has around 900 million followers. That is the third largest religion. The central figure of Hinduism is Lord Sri Krishna. Hinduism is mostly practiced in India (the 2nd largest country soon to be 1st) because that is where it originated.
Judaism
The last religion was Judaism. Judaism was founded by a man named Abraham in the Middle east and around 1810 B.C. Judaism only believe in one God so they are monotheistic. The Holy book for Judaism is called the Tanakh. Judaism only has 13 - 14 million followers and they are decreasing drastically from when it was first started. Their central figure of Judaism is God. Judaism is studied around the world like U.S. or France.

Cultural Geography
Today we started a new section in Human Geography. We started the section called cultural geography. We learned a lot from the power point for example cultural characteristics are part of every groups every day life. We also learned that some of these characteristics can link or divide a culture or region. Some of theses characteristics could be like language, region, or ethnic heritage. We learned about language and how it can affect the culture. For example English is the language of business. If you want to talk to an country around the world about business, then English is one of the most used language. Its not really like that because its polite to speak the other cultures language, but its because English has just become the business language. So language is a big part of each and every culture. We also found out what most people in the U.S. call soft drinks. A lot call them pop but around where we live we just call it soda. Others call all of the sodas coke which seems confusing. This is what we learned in Human Geography class today.

Power Point Presentations
Today in Human Geo class we all presented our power points. They were on Vikings, Columbus, and Native Americans. The people in the Vikings group did not do their power point so they used some other classes power point on Vikings. My group did Columbus. We presented at the end of the class so we did not really have time to finish our presentation. Some people did not really put much information on their slide though. The best power point in our class would probaly be the Native Americans. I think that because they were the only group who had a lot of information on each of their slides. Then the Columbus power point, which was mine, would be next since the Vikings group did not even do theres. The power points took up the whole class so we did not have much time to do anything else during clas. That is what we were able to accomplish in our Human Geo class today.

Test review than project
Today in the beginning of Human Geography class we started off with reviewing or test answers. I didn't do to great but I passed. In our class there was only 4 A's and there was 2 B's. But are class was the only class to have a person get a hundred percent on the test. That means they of course got all of the answers right and they also spell every word right. Then after we were done that we started our Columbus Day project. There were three groups to choose from. They were Native Americans, Vikings, and Columbus. I am in the Columbus group. All we have to do is answer eight questions. Since we didn't really have time to do much we only able to start it not finish it. But I finished my slide in class so I am done with that. That is basically every thing we did in class today.

Test and Unique Cultures
Friday in human geography we took a test on the movie "God Grew Tired Of Us". We were aloud to use our blog during the test. The blog didn't really help me because everything I wrote about was unfortunately none of the questions on the test. I think I did all right but I know for sure I didn't a 100 on it but i didn't fail either. Then once we finished we were told to look up very unique cultures. My culture had a very unique tradition. For a man to marry a women he had to get a piece of bamboo and stick it under the Ladies armpit. Then he has to shoot an arrow through it. If he misses he would he beheaded. Then if they pass that test they must go and get a head. When they bring it the blood must be dried up. After that to insure the marriage the husband and the wife must both cut off their index finger. Tat is what we did in class friday.

Charity Discussion
Today in class we went over the foundation websites that we found yesterday. We tied to come up with the best website that we could sponsor for our project. Are class was said to be so far the least enthusiastic about this project. A lot of them were a good match for what we were looking for. The helped support the kids in South Sudan with food and medical care. We also learned about some bad ones to use. For example Toms the shoe company. They say you buy a pair of shoes and another pair is sent to the kids who don't have any in Africa. The bad thing is that you have to spend over 80 dollars on a pair of shoes for them to do that. So you are really giving 80 dollars to them and only about half of that money is actually be spent on the kids in Africa. That is what Toms she company is not a good one to use. This is what we were able to accomplish today in class.

Foundation Searching
Today in class we searched up foundations that could be helpful that we could use to help support John from the movie "God Grew Tired Of Us". Are class was a little shorter than the other classes because the class election went over by a little. But we still had enough time to get a lot of work done. The foundations that I was basically looking at were the ones who helped support kids in Africa. The ways they could help is by helping medical care or delivering food to them. This is all to help out John's foundation. You told us that he responded back to your email about coming to the school to give us a speech to us. He said he would but we would have to pay him a lot of money that we don't really want to pay him. So that was basically all we had time to do in Human Geography class today.

Finally Finished God Grew Tiered Of Us
Today in Human Geography class we finally were able to finish the movie God Grew Tiered Of Us. I personally thought it was a very good movie and was very inspiring. I thought that because the Sudanies came out of a place where they had nothing at all. Instead of just quitting and just staying with their family until they soon die, they decided to take the chance at going to the U.S. They soon realized that it was a good decision and they would hopefully be able to make enough money to support their family's back in Sudan. When it was all over Panther went back home and got married and reunited with his mother and his brother. He was also able to get his bachelor's degree and opened up a school down there. John also was able to get his bachelor's degree. They showed him reuniting with his mom. He decided he wanted to open up a medical clinic to help the sick and the injured. Finally Dan is still in the Job Court business which helps other people find jobs. He had a thought that his family was still alive and wanted to believe that. But right now as of when the movie was finished he was the only one who hasn't been able to reunite with his family. I think that it would be good to raise money but I don't think there are much ways to raise money. There are only little ways that wont help to much but if there is a good big way to raise money I think it would be a good idea.

God Grew Tired Of Us
Today we still continued to watch the movie "God Grew Tired Of Us". We got to see how the Sudanies act in the U.S. They are now very good and comfortable in the U.S. John is trying to tell everyone not to go blow off all your money. They still need to send some of their to Sudan so they can support their family's. Some of them are not listening and spending their money on cars and fancy clothing and all other unnecessary items. This is really frustrating John. Also as you can tell they all have jobs and they are 7 years into this experiment type thing the they are doing. Some of them are attempting to go to college for more education. They find that hard though considering they have up to 3 jobs. So they find it hard to fit enough time to go to college and work 3 jobs. That is why some of them made the decision to stop trying to go to college and continue there jobs that they have.

Movie
Today in class we continued to watch the video about the Sudanies. They were still have a hard time and were starving but they got to safety. Then the United States chose a couple of people to take back to the U.S and they could start a life there. The U.S would support them for 3 months and would give them food, a apartment and some information about the technology there. The Sudanies had no clue what anything was because they had never dealt with technological. They were so confused at first but then they started to get use to doing it. They learned how to cook, use a toilet make items using a stove. They also didn't know about any types of precooked food like chips. They all said that their country and family was depending on them to bring back more goods for them after they were there for a while. That is basically all we did in Human Geography class today.
Class
Today in class we started off by reviewing the test we took Monday. It was fairly easy and only a couple were a little bit challenging. I ended up getting a good grade on the test which is also good. Then we started to watch a video about the Sudanies. The war was a really tough time for them. Kids from ages up to 10 or 11 had to travel across the boarder by them self to get to safety. They had to figure out a sort of family they were going to have. Then they would take care of each other and help them out on the trip across the boarder. They had to cross through the deserts where there was lack of food and water. Once they finally got to freedom they were starving. Some people say they want to go back now but they cant in case of another war that occurs. Then they would have to make that hard brutal life threatening trip back across the boarder just to get to safety again. So that sums up what we were able to accomplish today in class.

Second Sudanes Civil War
In the beginning of class we had to take our test. It wasn't that hard accept for a couple of questions i didn't know. Then once everyone was done the test we tried to watch the movie about the Sudanes war. The sound wouldn't work and work and we wasted a lot of time trying to get it to work. So then we stopped trying and started to look up facts about the Sudanes second civil war. I learned that t was a war against the government and their people. Also that it occurred 1983 - 2005. It was a very deadly war because around 2 million people died during this war. They finally came to a solution and created a peace treaty and that is how the war ended. Even though we didn't get to see the video i learned a lot about the Sudanes second civil war and how it was ended.

Prsentations
Today in class we started off finishing the power points we started. My group did Nigeria and we learned a lot about them. One main thing we learned was they were a developing country not a developed country. We knew that because most people did not live to an old age. Most males lived to around 48 years old. Also they die a lot because have and spread HIV's/AIDS. Also they were part of Africa and some countries do not have good environments. For example they don't always have good clean water to drink and diseases are spread around them. Then in the second part of class we started to present the projects. Some of the countries that were presented was Nigeria (which was my group) United States, and Italy. One group was not able to present because we ran out of time in class. That is what we did in class today.

Population Growth
Today in human geography class we went over a power point about our population. today there is about 7 billion people on Earth right now. About 33 years ago there was under 3 billion people on Earth. Our planet is rapidly growing in the population. We also learned that we got the 7 billion people on Earth because per second there is a 2.4 person increase on Earth. So every second 2.4 more people are on Earth. We learned that 90% of population growth takes in the developing places which are Africa, South and East Asia and Latin America. Also the U.S.'s Net migration is 3.62 people. So every one person that leaves the U.S. about 4 more enter it. But we are not the highest in that. A lot of people think we are because all of the Mexicans that migrate illegally but not that many more try to now because its a lot harder now then it was back then. The last thing we learned was Total Fertility Rate. This is the average number of children a women has or gave birth to. For the U.S. we have a little bit more than 2 (2.06) TFR. So the average women has 2 kids in the U.S. but right after the civil wars it was a lot higher. It was more around 5 children. That was because the economy was good then and people could afford it but now the economy is not s good so not as many women are having a lot of kids. That is what I learned in human geography class today.

Fridays Class
Friday in class we mostly just went over all the facts or at least most of them from the video. We talked about how different today's world is then from back then. Like how advance are technology has gotten. For example Facebook would be the 3rd largest country if it was one. 20 years ago there wasn't even internet. That shows how fast Facebook grew. Also we talked about that it took 3 years for the Ipod to too reach 50 million users. That is amazing how that is because the radio took 30 years. We also found out that there are about 600 tweets sent in one second. That shows how good our technology is and how many people use it. One of the last things the video showed is how fast our world is moving. It is advancing more and more every day and soon it will be 20 times more advance then it is today. That is what we did in class on Friday.

Video Facts
Today in class first we started off finishing answering the last of the questions on the CIA Factbook. Then we found out that most of the people in my class blogs were not working correctly. After that we started to watch the video about the facts about are planet and the people on it. I learned a lot from that video. For example in a couple of years china will have the country with the most people speaking English. Its weird because you would obviously expect us to be the ones to speak the most English. I guess that is because there are a lot more people in China then us. I also learned that 50 million tweets are sent every day. That shows that people use twitter to much then they should. Also if facebook was a country it would be the 3 largest behind China and India. Those to facts also show that we are using the internet and all the social networks to much. So as you can see there are some facts that are very amazing about our planet.

Website Evaluating
Website 1: Yes because it is coming from the CIA website which is what the website is about. The CIA is there seeing what is happening so it is a primary website
Website 2: Yes because it has the correct information that comes from the book A Message to Garcia. Elbert Hubber wrote it so it was coming from a primary source
Website 3: No because they said that this it is not the original copy it is a backup so it cant be a primary source because its not coming from the original place.
Website 4: Yes because it is coming from NASA which is the place who came up with the information so it is a primary source
Website 5: No because it is coming from someone who has an opinion of Obama not a person that actually knows Obama or Obama but just a person that has an opinion about him
Website 6: Yes because its written b someone who has been around New York and herd the news from people to get the information. Since they were there personally then it is considered a primary source.
Website 7: No because this is also an opinion. The person might be saying things that aren't actually true so it is not a primary source. If Obama actually did say that stuff then it would be a primary source
Website 8: Yes Wikipedia can be a primary source if the person who posted it was there. In this case it was since it was a person who posted The Washington Times .
Website 9: Yes this is a primary source because Its Mr. Schick website and he is posting things that is happening and he was there.

Learning about websites
Today in class we learned about if a website is true and has correct information or not. I learned that Wikipedia is one of the best websites to get your information from. That is because it has a large variety of information. Also it is very up to date and the information is reliable. One bad thing is people can post anything on it but it is constantly checked. So if anyone posts anything wrong it will be fixed very quickly. We also talked about how to tell if it is a good website. For example if the website doesn't have an email or a way to contact them then it could be fake information. Also if the website isn't sponsored by a reputable organization then it could also be false. Also you can tell by who published it so if you have never heard or not sure if it is a good publisher than don't use it. So i learned you can never trust every website that comes up first on the list.

Essay 2
If Elbert Hubbard and Socrates traveled to the future in 2012 first they would both think its changed a lot. Once the both have been here for a little while they would start thinking of things that has and hasn't changed. I think Elbert Hubbard would think that most people have not changed. They are still lazy and don't always want to do the best wok they can just like the ancient Greeks. I think That Socrates would start to use his Socratic Method. He would use it on people around the town only different subjects for example (saying that he knows about the subjects) politics. I also would think that Socrates would think that the subjects he would use the Socratic Method on have gotten a lot more complicated. In my opinion that is how i think Elbert Hubbard and Socrates would think and act if they traveled to the future
Essay 1
The Greeks used the word arete a lot. The word arete means a person that has character or in another word it means excellence. Socrates and the ancient Greeks showed this a lot in ancient Greek. He showed this because he wanted people to have morals (doing the right thing). Socrates also showed this because he was willing to stand up for what he thought was right (Socratic Method) and took the consequences for it. That is showing character because it means doing the right thing and that was what Socrates was doing. So because of that he was forced to drink the Hemlock and died very quickly and painful. So this was how Socrates was able to show arete.

Ancient Greek words
Definitions:
arete- Excellence of any kind
polis- a city,or citizenship
Socrates- A classical Greek Athenian philosopher
The death of Socrates- Died by drinking hemlock because he was corrupting the minds of young people
The Socratic Method- a debate between people that have different point of views based on asking and answering questions to simulate critical thinking
The Date 508B.C.- Democracy was originated in Greece
agora- a central point in city-states means "a gathering place"
What the Greeks meant if they called someone an idiot- someone that was found not voting in the Democracy
Today we learned a lot in class. In the class we discussed what each Greek word meant and why it was important. We also talked a lot about the Greek philosopher Socrates. Socrates was an important Greek man back then. He created the system "The Socratic Method." This method was basically a way of debating by asking and answering questions to simulate your critical thinking. This method was a very good one and helped out a lot of debates. But because of this method Socrates was accused for the crime of corrupting the young minds of the citizens. He was told to apologize or he would have to take the consequence of the hemlock. Socrates did not want to apologize. He even said they should be sorry and have to give him a life time supply of food. So he was forced to take the hemlock and died on the spot. So we learned Socrates was a very brave man. This is what i was able to learn in class today.

Class about "A Message To Garcia"
Today in class we learned a lot. First we were able to read the story "A Message To Garcia". The story was about a man who had to deliver a message to General Garcia who was lost in the mountains. The man who delivered the message did it with no problem. He also did it without asking an question or having to have a consequence if it was not done. We learned that you should always do what was told without any complaining or asking a million questions. We also learned that even back then people didn't always do what they are asked. They weren't always inspired to do a great job at work. That is why the man who delivered the message was a worthy guy. He was willing to do whatever he had without complaining and still do a good job. That is why you need to be a hard worker and do your job even if you don't get rewarded right away you soon will.

My day at school
This was my first day since I was sick on Freshman
Orientation day. That was why I was a little nervous and I didn't know what to
expect of this class. Anyway, I was still able to have a fun time in class. We
got our new assigned seats in class today. We also went over the rules of
class and went over the syllabus. We also learned why you don't want us to use
computers for taking notes in class. You said that we don't use computers for
note taking because it’s too tempting to go on games or places we aren't supposed
to be on it. We also learned that you don't give out extra credit because if
you do the work right the first time you won't need the extra points. In the
end, like I said I like this class very much and I will have fun.
